VOLUNTEERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO KAB PROGRAMS

Keep Australia Beautiful is thankful for the support of the thousands of volunteers who have donated their time to community clean-ups and other volunteering positions this year.

Without the support of volunteers, some programs and events being undertaken by KAB to educate the community on the effects of littering would have been unable to continue.

Volunteering with Keep Australia Beautiful is a rewarding experience and makes a real difference to your community and the environment. Positions are flexible to suit your lifestyle and can range from joining Adopt-a-Spot and conducting clean-ups or registering your details with KAB to join us for campaigns or community events.

Recent volunteer activities have included:

·         Litter education and surveys at shopping centres: KAB volunteers assisted staff to collect surveys from more than 700 people, which gives us information on what to do for future KAB campaigns.

·         Bin Your Butt: volunteers joined KAB staff to educate smokers in the City of Perth of the importance of ensuring their cigarette butts were put in the bin. Over five days, more than 15 volunteers handed out hundreds of personal ashtrays and helped sign up buildings to the program that is working towards making Perth butt-free.

·         Community events.

If you have some spare time and would like to join the fight against litter contact KAB staff on 6467 5122 or by email to kabc@dec.wa.gov.au. Your assistance can help us work towards a litter-free WA.
